About Nagarik
Sources · methodology · corrections
Data last verified against official sources:
Nagarik (नागरिक, “citizen”) is a free civic dashboard for India. It brings together, for every state and union territory, the government schemes people can apply for, public projects and their status, the ruling government’s manifesto commitments, representatives (Chief Ministers, the Union Cabinet, MPs and MLAs), municipal works and official document portals.
Where the data comes from
- Election Commission of India (results.eci.gov.in) — election results and assemblies
- sansad.in — Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members
- Cabinet Secretariat (cabsec.gov.in) and Rashtrapati Bhavan — ministers and appointments
- Press Information Bureau (pib.gov.in) and ministry portals — central scheme figures
- State budget speeches, finance department documents and state portals — state scheme figures
- Official scheme, municipal and document portals — links to apply
How we verify
Every figure links to its source. A number is published only when an official source states it; figures found only in news reports wait until an official document confirms them. Figures that are the government’s own claims are labelled “Govt. reported”. When a value is known to be wrong and no official replacement exists, it is removed rather than left showing.
Leaders, schemes and figures are re-checked against official sources regularly and after major political changes. The last full check was on 26 October 2026. Changes are listed on the updates page.
What Nagarik does not do
- It does not support or oppose any party; it reports what governments committed to and what official records show.
- It never asks for your Aadhaar, PAN, phone number or other personal details. It only links to official portals.
- It is not a government website.
